Introduction
How many times have you asked the question, where, in or near Highland Village, can
I find an electrician who is honest and does good work? Have you ever asked your neighbor, do you know of a good local heating
and air conditioning company that you can recommend? How about a referral for a local plumber? As your Highland Village neighbor,
if one of my unbiased, fair and balanced reviews assists you, then I will be very happy.
Hi, my name is Matthew and I am an ordinary person, a husband and father
of 4, who loves our city, Highland Village, but finding good, honest people to work in our home has not been easy.
Once upon a time there were the good ole days of the handshake seals the deal, but now we exist in the internet world with
the current common conman who has 50 email accounts and writes his own business its 50 five star reviews.
On one occasion we had a local business, Lewisville, perform
basic handyman work in our home, only to notice that my wife's two diamond rings disappeared during their time
in our home (one ring was later recovered by law enforcement). The dirt and mud, nevertheless, that they tracked throughout
our carpet is merely an afterthought.
During the Summer of 2011, when much of Highland Village was hit by
a hailstorm and required roofing work, we were in the process of hiring a roofer -- a roofing company from Houston who
had set up shop in Highland Village immediately following that hailstorm -- but to our shock the roofing company
from Houston had already forged our signature on all initial paperwork and numerous supplements... Subsequently,
Highland Village Police Department informed me that more than 30 local homeowners were also victims of the same Houston based
roofing company.
And I also hired a highly rated and recommended electrician from
Denton, who even advertises on local television networks, only to observe the electrician attempt to install wiring and closet
lights -- in the dark. He said that he left his flashlight at home, but when sparks lit up the closet the ever so wise
electrician asked if I had a flashlight. While working in the dark, furthermore, he was generous enough to leave a long,
deep scratch on the wall.
So who can you and I, as neighbors, really trust in our home sweet home?
Although my wife and I are retired and reside in Highland Village, we have,
through the years, found it very difficult to trust any business because of fake and manipulated online business
reviews, paid and sponsored brochures and papers that constantly arrive in the mailbox, folks (strangers) who
bombard and leave fliers on our door, commercial websites and businesses that we see daily on television, people who arrive
at our home only to promote their sponsors, and the business that we see listed as number one only because it was the highest
bidder for that spot and position.
So why am I writing?
I am not in Atlanta or Houston, but I am your Highland Village neighbor
who just wants to help my neighbor. You heard of Highland Village Neighborhood Watch, right? Perhaps you can call this Highland
Village Local Business Watch, because my goal is to write about my independent, personal experiences with local businesses
-- whether good or bad -- and report the facts and findings to you my neighbor in the Highland Village area. As your neighbor,
if one of my unbiased, fair and balanced reviews assists you, then I will be very happy. Reviews will be often, so you are
encouraged to bookmark and visit often.

From the good ole days of the handshake seals the deal to the current common

Our neighbors are wonderful and are sometimes helpful with referring
us to a business that they like, but they too have also found it difficult to locate and then recommend most companies.
So, as just your average Matthew, I will be writing reviews about businesses, small and large, that I have used
personally. From roofing and roofers, plumbing and plumbers, electricians, lawn service and lawn care, local restaurants,
window cleaning, handyman services, painters, maid service, to kitchen remodeling, I will write fair and balanced reviews,
which will also include and address from common sense questions to contractual agreements to the final facts.
Highland Village
So from its renowned safety record to laudable public schools to beautiful
scenery to its easy access to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex (4th largest area in the United States), we decided many
years before we relocated to the area, that Highland Village is our retirement home.
Highland Village, which enjoys a short border with Flower Mound, is located
primarily adjacent Lake Lewisville and it is a small, affluent city of 15,000. Highland Village was recently
selected as the location for the next generation super-sized Whole Foods Market and according to the city's website,
highlandvillage.org, it is the safest city in Texas for its size. While Highland Village also hosts the most state of
the art Wal-Mart in the world, which serves sushi, it was designed to incorporate an iconic 1870 landmark pecan tree,
whose canopy provides comfort to visitors, and the location includes Wal-Mart’s first bike shop, a children’s
entertainment area and a new approach to fresh food.
Business Area
Highland Village is a city in Denton County, Texas, and it is a suburb of
Dallas (9th largest city in the U.S.), adjacent south side of the far western branch of Lewisville Lake. Denton County belongs
to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and is also part of North Texas. According to the 2010 U.S. Census the city's population
was 15,056. A number of residential communities are located within Highland Village, including Highland Shores and Castlewood.
Highland Village is part of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and is
a short distance, meaning 20 minutes or less in normal driving conditions, from Lewisville, Flower Mound, Lake Dallas,
Corinth, Hickory Creek, Denton, Copper Canyon, Double Oaks, Lantana, Bartonville, Coppell, Carrollton, Shady Shore, Grapevine,
and Argyle.
Businesses that serve Highland Village and its surrounding area are
typically located in four cities: Denton, Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Coppell. Outside the area the individual will also find
numerous businesses, from Dallas to Fort Worth, which serve and cater to the greater Highland Village area.
