Lowes Military Discount
Flower Mound / Highland Village, TX
Lowes Military Discount: Veteran Saves $1,125 on Refrigerator
Lowes honors military - past and present. Texas,
Lowes, and Memorial Day Sale (May 26, 2013)
We initially priced our kitchen remodeling job with bids from contractors, only to save
50% or more by going with Lowes.
Lowes offers a 10% discount to military, military retirees, and disabled
veterans with military ID, but that is not the only reason why I am writing about my purchase -- there's more, much more.
Hi, my name is Matthew, and I, no, we (better include my better half!) are presently
remodeling our kitchen. As a disabled veteran, with limited mobility, many basic tasks can seem overwhelming. Remodeling
our kitchen easily falls into that overwhelming and stressful category.
Lowes, however, during Memorial Day
weekend was fantastic. We purchased all our stainless steel appliances, including granite countertops, etc., with deep
discounts. Why else would I be posting this, right? Well, besides the great prices, I am also posting this because purchasing
at Lowes was stress free and rather easy, and they will be delivering, installing, and hauling away all old appliances.

An example of the respective discounts we received are as follows: Texas
honors Memorial Day holiday weekend with "no sales tax" on water related energy efficient (aka energy star) appliances
listed under $2,000, while Lowes bestows the standard 10% military discount in addition to its annual "Memorial Day sale." So,
we purchased a Whirlpool French door refrigerator/freezer listed for $2,699 (excluding 8.75% sales tax in Texas) for
$1,810 total.
Total savings for just one item was $1,125.
Now how is that? The unit was normally listed for $2,699, but was
on sale during the holiday for $2,399. Lowes salesperson gave us (now this is the exception and flexibility of Lowes, but
not the rule!) an additional discount to drop the price to $1,999, which allowed us to qualify for the Texas energy star
or energy efficient sales tax exemption. Next, Lowes gave us the 10% military discount. Total walk out price was $1,810.
On the other hand, total price without any discount, and including 8.75% sales tax, was $2,935. Our total savings was
$1,125.
Now that was just an example of one appliance - but we bought
all our new appliances from Lowes, so the overall discounts were thousands of dollars in savings. Lowes is also installing
our granite countertops and backsplash, which we purchased from them, and it includes free incentives such as: visiting
our home for applicable measurements, stainless steel sink (choice of 60/40, 50/50, large single) and installation,
router cuts, gas cooktop cutout, outlet cutouts, removal / tear out and haul away, etc. Yes, all that
is free. Lowes is also going to router the granite kitchen sink cutout and give it to us for a cutting board. How
cool!
We initially
priced our kitchen remodeling job with bids from contractors, only to save 50% or more by going with Lowes.
With a name we can trust, Lowes, and with much peace of mind for all our
remodeling needs -- we look forward to many future purchases with Lowes.
